Marina Parking

The City of Clearwater operates a metered/permit parking lot at the Clearwater Beach Municipal Marina until 6:00pm. For our daysails, sunset sails and private yacht charter cruises before 6:00pm "city parking permits" are available from our ticket booth.  Only cash is accepted as payment. This permit is required to park in a 30 minute metered space in the Marina parking lot during the time you are on the cruise.  

Other parking lots and garages are available on Clearwater Beach. The North Beach Parking Plaza: 490 Poinsettia Ave, Clearwater, Fl 33767 is about a 15 minute walk to the Marina with plenty of space and comparable rates.

*It is not uncommon to experience a  delayed drive down to the beach. To be safe always plan on arriving to our booth (slip 20) 1 hour prior to your sail. If you have extra time you can always enjoy what's going on around us on Clearwater Beach! If you do not show up in time due to traffic issues and miss the boat your ticket is non refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you really sail?

The Schooner Clearwater is a traditionally rigged staysail schooner.  The advantage of a staysail schooner is that it is easily handled by a small crew, is self-tacking and has many sail configurations to adapt to changing wind conditions.  Our Captain and crew takes great pride in sailing her and sailing well.

Is this a narrated tour?

We do not have a set script for our Captain and crew to read.  They love getting to know their passengers and enjoy discussing everything from sailing to marine life and local restaurants.

Where do we go?

Since our objective is sailing we do not have a set course, it depends on the wind, tides, weather and current at the time of your excursion.

Is the boat safe?

The Schooner Clearwater is a "Coast Guard Certified and Inspected" vessel.  This means every year the Coast Guard comes and inspects our vessel from the hull to the rigging and everything in between.  They count our life jackets, check expiration dates on our emergency flares and test our Captain and crew on man overboard drills. Look for our very imortant COI sticker we proudly display onboard.

Do you have a bathroom onboard?

Yes, we have a large, clean "marine head" bathroom located below deck.  The access is down a steep set of stairs similar to a large ladder.

What if I have to cancel my trip?

We have limited seating onboard the Schooner Clearwater, so when you make your reservation your seat is saved for you. Because of this we have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

You may cancel your tickets at least 24 hours before your sail for a full refund. Your tickets are valid only for your scheduled date and time. You may schedule a different date and time if you make your change 24 hours in advance. Once inside the 24 hour period, we will refund tickets only if we cancel the sail because of weather. There are no refunds if you miss your sail. We will not sail in heavy rain, thick fog, high winds, thunder and lightning etc. However, we will sail in overcast conditions, light to medium fog and in intermittent sprinkles. The final decision to sail resides with the Captain of the Schooner Clearwater. If you’ve purchased a ticket and do not show up because of the weather, and the boat sails, your ticket is not refundable.

 

Please read these terms and conditions before you book a sailing trip

  • Passengers should take a flexible approach to sailing. Plans may change because of weather or for a variety of other reasons.  Passengers must be physical able to move about on uneven surfaces, climbing several steps including a 2 foot step up and down.

  • You must manage any medical condition you have and you should not rely on there being sophisticated medical capability during a sail. You must bring your own medication with adequate supply beyond your expected time on the schooner. Notify the captain of any serious medical conditions before the schooner departs.

  • Passengers who are physically disabled, have learning disabilities,  and/or need personal care are required to bring an able-bodied friend (buddy) with them. That buddy should have experience helping with their particular needs.

  • All travel involves risk and by buying a ticket you acknowledge and accept that sailing carries an element of personal risk. We strive to minimize risks wherever possible by implementing stringent safety measures and procedures.
  • You agree Schooner Clearwater will not be liable for any loss or damage to your personal property.

  • You agree you will not hold the captain or crew legally responsible for any accident or misadventure that may occur during or as a result of the sail.

  • Children younger than five years old are not permitted to sail. All children must be supervised by an adult and are subject to follow the captain’s orders. Well-behaved children may be invited by the captain or crew to participate in activities such as hoisting sails or taking a turn at the helm. Any passenger has the right to refuse such an invitation. Any passenger who accepts, however, assumes responsibility for any risk the task may involve.

  • By joining us on the sail you consent to Schooner Clearwater using images of you taken during your sail in any medium we choose, royalty-free. Images may be used for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes. Should you provide Schooner Clearwater with copies of images that you have created yourself, you grant Schooner Clearwater permission to use them for the same purposes.

 

Refund Policy

Cancellations:

You may cancel your tickets at least 24 hours before your sail for a full refund. Your tickets are valid only for your scheduled date and time. You may schedule a different date and time if you make your change 24 hours in advance. Once inside the 24hour period, we will refund tickets only if we cancel the sail because of weather. There are no refunds if you miss your sail.

Weather Cancellations:

We will not sail in heavy rain, thick fog, high winds, thunder and lightning etc. However, we will sail in overcast conditions, light to medium fog and in intermittent sprinkles. The final decision to sail resides with Schooner Clearwater. If you’ve purchased a ticket and do not show up because of the weather, and the boat sails, your ticket is not refundable.

Private Charters:

You may cancel your charter at least 7 days before your sail for a full refund. Your charter is valid only for your scheduled date and time. You may schedule a different date and time providing you make your change 7 days in advance of the sail, depending on availability. Once inside the 7-day period, we will refund tickets only if we cancel the sail because of weather. Catered food is 100% norefundable.
